Recital Guide

What to expect during Sounds of Carolina performance events.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest is a relaxed, open-mic style event. There will be music, games, food, and fun for the whole family. This event is free and open to family and friends of our students. Students should expect to start picking out their Fall Fest performance selection soon after the school year starts. Teachers will facilitate event sign-up and song selection. The idea behind this event is to get students in front of people without the pressure that comes with a traditional recital. Students will be assigned an hour slot and can show up around their performance time and leave after they are finished. Current students log in to the student portal to view your assigned time slot.

Greenville Fall Fest: October 6th, 5-7 pm at the Village Grind

Anderson Fall Fest: October 15th, 2-5 pm at the Anderson Arts Center

Winter Recitals

Our Winter Recital is a formal, traditional style student recital. The event is free and open to family and friends of our students. The purpose of this event is to give each student a concrete goal to work toward. Students will learn the dedication it takes to prepare for a big performance and will learn coping skills for dealing with nerves. We have eight Winter Recital sessions scheduled and each student will be assigned one. An accompanist will be assigned as needed. Performer dress is formal and performers are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance begins. Audience dress is dressy casual and the audience is expected to stay for the entire performance. Families with multiple students will be grouped together. Current students log in to the student portal to view your assigned time slot.

Level Up Challenge

Our Level Up Challenge is open to all students enrolled in private lessons and participation is highly encouraged. This event is a rubric-graded examination in which a judge gives each student a Level ranking based on their performance. Students that receive the highest marks within each Level will be eligible to win prizes and participate in our Spring Showcase.

Teachers will facilitate event sign up and song selection. Song selection should display both technical and lyrical abilities. The main purpose of this event is to give students the opportunity to receive helpful comments from another music professional. Students will learn the dedication it takes to prepare for a performance-based examination, and will learn coping skills for dealing with nerves. Students will be assigned a performance appointment time. Dress is formal. Families with multiple participating students will be grouped together.
