Where are you located?
We are located at the Anderson Arts Center at 110 Federal St. in Downtown Anderson, SC. Please park in the parking lot next to the farmer’s market pavilion, which is “behind” the Arts Center.
What should I bring to my trial lesson?
You can bring your instrument, if you have one and any music you may have worked on previously. If you are brand new beginner, don’t worry about bringing anything. This is an opportunity for us to meet to talk more about lessons and to get to know each other.
I don’t have an instrument yet. What should I do?
Let’s go ahead and schedule a trial lesson before you purchase an instrument. At that time, we can discuss further about your needs and how you can acquire an instrument. In general, I recommend renting string instruments from Bernhardt House of Violins. Their phone number is (864) 282-8887 and their address is 5 Cateechee Ave, Greenville, SC 29605.
Where pianos are concerned, I recommend Piano Central, as I had a pleasant experience purchasing our Yamaha studio piano there. Their phone number is (864) 232-5164 and their address is 757 N Pleasantburg Dr, Greenville, SC 29607.
What is your absence policy? How much do lessons cost?
Please take a look at our Studio Policy, listed below. It should answer most questions.
Sounds of Carolina Studio Policy
Each student will receive only one makeup lesson per semester. If you must use this makeup lesson, it can be scheduled on one of our makeup days at the end of the semester. Refunds and credits will not be given for missed lessons. If a family emergency arises a lesson can be rescheduled on a case-by-case basis.
An informational email will be sent if inclement weather arises. Lessons are not automatically cancelled when schools are.
What to bring:
Each student (or family) should have a music bag in which they carry their books, any other musical pieces, a notebook for the parent’s, or student’s, note-taking, a pencil and something to record with (an iPhone or iPod works). Please make sure you have all other accessories including your shoulder rest, cleaning cloth, rosin, rock stop, and extra strings, and nail clippers. Please maintain short clipped fingernails.
All students must have a parent present in the room or hallway (this will be determined by your teacher). All students must be accompanied to and from the studio area.
Parents are responsible for creating a learning environment at home. Recordings must be played daily to help your child learn more easily. Listening must become an integral part of the daily routine. This applies for child and adult students.
Tuition may be paid by semester in full (due August 20th and January 3rd) or in monthly installments (by the 10th of each month).
Families that pay tuition per semester in full will receive a 5% discount. Tuition amount does not change with the number of lessons given each month. Families with multiple students enrolled will receive a 10% discount for each additional student enrolled with lessons of equal or lesser value. Tuition includes the following: weekly private lessons, solo recitals, special events, accompaniment for events, and facility rental.
How to make payment:
Tuition payments can be made at the lesson, by mail, or through the online payment link found in each invoice (please note that paying online will incur a 4% fee). Payments are due by the 10th of each month. Any late payments will incur a $15 late fee per student.
